JZMU Organized “Children and Adolescent Obesity Prevention and Control Practice Team” to Xinjiang

The health of children and adolescents is a major concern related to social progress and the future of the nation. In order to respond to the Healthy China Strategy actively and focus on the healthy growth of children and adolescents in the minority areas, JZMU has established the “Children and Adolescent Obesity Prevention and Control Practice Team”, and went to Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to implement the summer social practice activity from July 25thto August 7th.

The Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region is the largest provincial administrative multi-ethnic region in China. People there feed on pasta, meat, dairy products and roasted food with less vegetable. To explore the relationship between multi-ethnic dietary culture, obesity, and the incidence of related chronic diseases, the team selected ethnic regions to conduct health research to showcase the specialty and responsibility of young medical workers for Healthy China Strategy. This practice activity lasted for 14 days covering 3 regions. The members of the team worked 10 and a half hours a day, and surveyed more than 2000 people.
